Getting around

Israel's public transport system is renowned; Egged buses are a national symbol. The train system is often overlooked but is extensive, expanding and inexpensive - it also has the benefit of avoiding traffic jams. Road 6, Israel's North-South toll road is another way of avoiding the jams.

Here are a few suggestions for getting to and around Israel. Suggestions for additions can be sent to neilg@jafi.org

Dan buses - Tel Aviv and the coast

Egged buses - National coverage

Rakevet Israel - the passenger train system

El Al - the National Airline

Israir - another Israeli airline

Road 6 ("Kvish Shesh) - North-South toll road (Hebrew)

Emap - driving directions, maps and more

Mapa - Israel maps, map books, tours and more (Hebrew)

Tel Aviv traffic - check out the traffic situation on the Ayalon Freeway in Tel Aviv - live cameras

Zoomap - a cute application that lets you see pictures of addresses across Israel
