USA: there is a wide range of Independence day celebrations: Ceremonies and anthem singing, “walks with Israel”, performances by Israeli singers such as Shuly Natan, David Broza and others, fundraisers for Israeli organizations such as: “House of Wheels”, festive receptions, sing-along, folk dancing, speeches, blessings, guest speakers, mega events (with thousands of participants, including mayors of cities), visits of Israeli delegations, musical events, hosting of Israeli soldiers, flag parades, film screening, Israel weekend, spokesmen lectures, art exhibition (interpreting the Israeli national anthem through art), picnics and outdoor activities for the whole family, concerts and student parties on and off campuses.
(Note: in Munster Indiana: “the community has difficulties connecting to Israel, but because of the Youth movement’s enthusiasm and participation, they were able to organize a ceremony this year”)
Canada: Israeli party with Israeli foods and music, festivities including Israeli music and activities for the whole family, guest speakers, festive prayers and ceremonies.
South Africa: festive prayers, guest speakers, dancing (with flags), falafel dinner, sing-along with guitar.
Cricket stadium event- Aliya fair (including experts on housing, pension, education and mortgage in Israel) and events for the whole family- jumping castle and slides, carousel, mini soccer (for kids), Climbing wall, drumming session, bungee run, trampoline, mechanical bull, picnic area, falafel stand and Israeli music, SMS draw of 2 return air tickets to Israel.
Australia: 3 of Israel’s finalist on “Kochav Nolad” (the Israeli equivalent of “American Idol”) performed in the central Independence Day events, student picnics, ceremonies and performances.
New Zealand: A whole week of events during “Israel week” including a performance of the 3 “Kochav Nolad” finalists.
Argentina: 3 weeks of events including school events, Israeli film marathon, youth movement events, central event with the participation of the ambassador and Jewish organizations and the signing of a solidarity letter for Israel’s kidnapped soldiers and folk dancing performances.
Holland: all Jewish organizations joined together for a big central event. Bnei Akiva band performance.
England: Israeli film evening, Yom Haazmaut party, festive prayers and festive dinner, fireworks, folk dancing and performances.
Denmark: ceremony and festive prayers in synagogue, events for the whole community in the Jewish school (organized by the Zionist federation, WIZO, Bnei Akiva and the Jewish community) and student party with Israeli songs.
Sweden: ceremony and party in the Jewish community centre.
Austria: Central ceremony, festive prayers and special dinner, ceremony and celebration in the Jewish school.
Russia: The central event this year hosted the Israeli singer David Da'or and Moscow's philharmonic orchestra. In addition there was a Jewish art festival, a student party, an Israeli food and wine tasting evening and the broadcasting of the Israeli PM's Yom Haazmaut greeting.
