The Etz Haim Mission from Orange County, New York visited Nitzana during July. The UJC family mission, which included both parents and children, spent few hours at the Negev village within the framework of a tour of the Negev. At Nitzana they learned about the region, their Jewish heritage and they cooled off in the swimming pool.
The mission members met Nitzana Director David Palmach and the Shin Shinim volunteers and were told about the different types of educational activities that take place at the Youth Aliyah residential village. The New Yorkers learned about the region's historical importance, in particular from the Jewish point of view and were given a tour of the area surrounding Nitzana.
