Construction of Ramat Hadassah Szold's new high school is about to be completed thanks to a generous donation from the Terrace Tower Group in Sydney in Memory of the Late John Saunders through Keren Hayesod UIA Australia Young Leadership. The new building will house 150 students – 50 each in 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

Fifty 10th grade students began studies in the new high school last year in a building, which was renovated with funds contributed by British Jewry through UJIA Great Britain. This September the second group of tenth graders started studying. The opening of the high school is the realization of a dream held by Ramat Hadassah Szold’s management since the late 1990’s. Until then the school’s students would live and study at the village for three years from 7th to 9th grade before returning home or onto another high school.

“The remarkable progress made by the children would often be lost after the youngsters left the village,” recalled Ramat Hadassah Szold’s Deputy Director Michal Stern. “In addition to general studies for matriculation, the new high school includes specialist studies in communications, science and agriculture and young entrepreneurship courses in Disc Jockeying, dog training and make-up.” In recent years several dozen selected students were able to carry on living at Ramat Hadassah Szold, while studying in nearby high schools. There are currently 40 such children studying in 10th and 11th grades. Ramat Hadassah Szold’s future strategy calls for an intake of 60 children each year in each grade so that eventually there will be 360 students at the village from 7th to 12th grade.
