NJ and Michigan: Meeting The Challenge

Shirli Independence Day Mission from the Jewish Federation of Bergen County and North Hudson (New Jersey) visited Ben Yakir.
On April 20th the 30 strong Shirli Independence Day Mission from the Jewish Federation of Bergen County and North Hudson (New Jersey) visited Ben Yakir. At the village they met some of the 130 children taking part in the Challenges (Etgarim) program that they are funding. Etgarim takes the students out into nature where they must overcome obstacles both as individuals as team groups. “The program is built in such a way,” explained Ben Yakir Director Yossi Krothamer, that all students eventually succeed and thus Etgarim builds their self-confidence in tackling problems.”

Members of the Michigan Mega Mission visit Kiryat Yearim.
On the same day a Mega Mission from Detroit, Michigan visited Kiryat Yearim where they are funding the Etgarim program. The US visitors and the Israeli students spent many hours bonding through Etgarim type activities such as snapelling , Omega and paintball.
