In 2005, with our "Knit & Nosh" program, Fresno Chapter of Hadassah began a relationship with the kids at Hadassah Neurim, a Youth Aliyah project, when we sent our handmade mufflers
as Chanukah gifts to the young people there.
As Nachum Katz,Director General of Hadassah Neurim wrote after receiving our gifts, when he's asked what people can do to help Israel he says, "make one connection, with one Israeli, because that is the most powerful human bridge one can imagine." We've started weaving that bridge with yarn, and are continuing to build that bridge and make it stronger.
When Judith Reposo put out the call for knitters again in 2006, the response was terrific.
Betty Jarman-Adelson became very prolific, making 20 scarves, including a number made of fleece. Marian Mosley read about the our project, as well as the incredible work at Neurim during the Summer 2006 war, when an article by member Lise Rosenthal appeared in the local newspaper, the Fresno Bee. She was so inspired she became a Hadassah member and knitted 15 items! Many thanks to all these women of Hadassah, who sent warm hugs (in 3 large boxes this Chanukah!) to the students at Hadassah Neurim with their scarves:
