Toronto Contributes Computers to "Sparks of Science" Children
20.2.2008

UJA Federation of Toronto is encouraging outstanding Ethiopian immigrant pupils attending the "Sparks of Science" program at the Weizmann Institute.

A community delegation presented computers donated by the Robert and Debi Schacter family to seven Sparks of Science pupils. The pupils - six 10th graders and one 11th grader - also received computers desks and chairs. The pupils' families hosted delegation members with an Ethiopian style ethnic dinner.

The Toronto community has a longstanding relationship with Rechovot's Kiryat Moshe neighborhood dating back to Project Renewal, and in recent years has emphasized empowering Ethiopian immigrants residing in the neighborhood.
