Youth Future Activity in Tiberias Continues Despite the War
9.8.2006

The Youth Futures program in Tiberias reaches over 200 underprivileged children to aid in every aspect of the children's life. The program began only a few months ago.

Last Saturday, the lives of these children, together with the residents of Northern Israel, were drastically changed as Ketusha rocket attacks began. Tiberias has been hit almost everyday.

These children hear endless sirens and have spent much of their days and nights in bomb shelters. The shelters are poorly equipped and often do not even have a fan. There are no games, no television. All summer activities have been cancelled.

Despite this situation, the YETs (trustees who are in charge of coordinating all of the programs available, including the schools, social services, etc.) of the program, work with these children everyday, bringing games, books and activities with them. They play with the children, read, and just talk about the difficult situation that they are in. They are helping them cope and give them a feeling that they are important and loved. They have fun.

We pray for peace.
