Chovat Hatalmidim: Message to Teachers and Parents (27)
Thus, we must lower ourselves and relate to the child at his level and as appropriate for his personality - before the child turns into an enemy. Moses, along with all of the Prophets and Tzadikim throughout the generations lowered themselves so that they could relate to the masses at their level, accounting for their spiritual and physical needs alike. So, too, it is our duty to relate to our children at their level and educate them in accord with their individual needs - before they reach their decision to be with us or against us in furthering the Jewish faith. We must lower ourselves and speak to the child in his language, almost turning ourselves into children as we speak to him in terms he understands and can relate to.
