Partnership 2000: A Pledge to a New Vision

Whereas, Partnership 2000 is entering its second decade of unprecedented success as the flagship platform for partnership and relationships between Israelis and world Jewish communities;

Whereas, partnership is a major platform to advance our common goal of assuring a thriving and united Jewish people with a strong Israel at its center;

Whereas, partnership is critical to ensuring the unity and strengthening of the Jewish people which is our greatest asset;

We, the undersigned, Israelis and Jews from all over the world, committed to the future of the Jewish people and Israel, together pledge to:

Create a critical mass of global enduring Living Bridge People-to-People relationships, connections, shared values and common action between Israelis and Jewish people in the Diaspora in order to assure the unity of the Jewish people into the future.

Work together to advance our common goals of assisting in immigrant absorption, educating our young generation, promoting Jewish Peoplehood and community building, and strengthening Jerusalem and Israel's social and geographic peripheries;

Focus in our activities on our young generation in order to assure the future of our people;

Initiate and create coalitions of all of the relevant bodies in Israeli society and in Jewish communities in the Diaspora, including Government and local authorities, NGO's, the business sector, foundations and Jewish organizations;

Enhance lay leadership through structural changes in Partnerships, whereby volunteer leadership will play a major role together with elected leadership.

We, the signers of this declaration, on the 21st of Heshvan 5764, 16 November 2003, affirm this new vision of Partnership 2000, and commit ourselves to enhancing our partnerships and to bring forth all of our creative energies to ensure one united and thriving Jewish people with a strong vibrant Jewish and democratic Israel at its center.
