Stacie from Crenshaw in Canton Ohio is about to fly a kite, which was made & sent to her by Dorit from Gordon school in Akko

To begin their second year of P2K Twinning Rachel Berkowitz of Gordon School in Akko and Anne Efremoff of Crenshaw School in Canton Ohio planned to join with students all over the world and fly kites during Sukkoth. Only they decided to have their students design and make kites for each other's schools.

Teachers from the Western Galilee's Autumn Delegation to their partnered schools in the communities brought the Gordon kites to Crenshaw and joined the fun watching Israeli kites fly in Ohio. The Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Robert Roden, was there and proved his expertise at making kites fly. And all of Canton got to share the excitement as these flying kites from Israel starred on television in Canton, Ohio.

Kites are another way with which the students are learning about each other. Some of the kites were designed with symbols of their country, like the Mogen David and the Stars and Stripes, while some had ideas of the others' country on them. Some needed an explanation like one: an American football field with yard stripes and a goal post. Some were beautiful with stars, or flowers, or lovely shades of color. Others were humorous with cartoon characters. All of the kites brought great excitement and pleasure in designing, making, sending and receiving. But best of all was the flying.

While Rachel and Anne are fiends from their project last year, the students are new to the program and are just getting to know each other.
