Bridge - Choreographic Dialogues
Tel Aviv, July 29- August 12, 2007
Los Angeles, March- May, 2008
Symposium: May 4, 2008 at UCLA
Partnering with UCLA’s Center for Intercultural Performance and the Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theater, the Tel Aviv/Los Angeles Partnership is currently launching a new master class program in choreography. Four culturally diverse professional choreographers from UCLA are sharing their talents, expertise and unique LA perspective with Israeli choreographers and dancers in an intensive two-week program in Israel. The participants are also engaging with the public through outreach activities and a final concert at the Suzanne Dellal Center.
Next spring, UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures will include the second phase of the program as a course in Performance and Choreography by Barak Marshall. This half of the program is co-hosted and largely funded by UCLA’s Center for Intercultural Performance, Department of World Arts and Cultures, Centers for Jewish Studies and Near Eastern Studies, and The Dortort Center for Creativity in the Arts at UCLA Hillel. Three Israeli choreographers will work directly with UCLA students during a two-week residency that will culminate in a daylong symposium and showing.
