A delegation of ten women from Washington recently visited Beit Shemesh at the initiative of the Chairwomen of Partnership 2000 in Washington - Fay-Ann Brodie and Cindy Zitelman .
The delegation devoted a whole day to volunteer activity and to getting to know the Region and the activity of Partnership 2000 of the Jewish Agency.
The visit started at the Jasmine kindergarten in Bet Shemesh. The kindergarten children (aged 3-4) welcomed the guests and prepared a special song in their honor. Together with the children, the women put on aprons and decorated the blocks room of the kindergarten with a spectacular wall painting. After finishing the painting, the delegation members were invited to participate in a joint activity with the kindergarten children and their parents.
The delegation also visited the Tavlin restaurant near the Eshtaol moshav. The delegation ate lunch there with several residents of the Region who are active in social projects on behalf of the residents of the North. Many residents of the North found refuge in Bet Shemesh during the war.
Miri Shalem, the Director of the Beit Shemesh Community Center, and Naami Tor, the Director of the Kehila organization, spoke about the variety of activities they had organized and their personal feelings during those difficult days. Also at the meeting was Rena Holander who is an attorney and a volunteer with the Gesher LeKesher Committee of Partnership 2000. She spoke to the delegation about the involvement of Partnership 2000 in the Beit Shemesh-Yehuda Plains region.
