The Beit Shemesh-Yehuda Plains Partnership 2000, through the Committee for Economic Development, encourages the development of leading projects and programs in the area of economic development and job creation. Each year, tens of thousands of tourists from Israel and the Diaspora visit a variety of attractions in the Region, including the famous Wine Route and the festivals that take place all year round. Partnership 2000 plays an important role in the labeling of the Region and in its transformation into a prosperous tourist center.
The Ethnic Food Festival was held on four weekends during the month of March. Thousands of visitors came to the Region for the Festival. They were welcomed in private homes where they enjoyed an outstanding culinary experience in a homey and authentic atmosphere. They had the opportunity to taste the food of a wide variety of ethnic groups in Israel. Dozens of families opened their homes and offered original works of art and handicrafts alongside the ethnic dishes. Hikes in nature and activities for the whole family at a number of locations were also part of the Festival.
The Festival plays a central role in promoting tourism and entrepreneurship and the development of sources of income and employment. The uniqueness of the Festival lies in the fact that it is locally organized in its entirety, including production, marketing and sales. Invitations to "open houses" continue during the year as well. Good food and good wine are transforming the Beit Shemesh-Yehuda Plains Region into a place where the good life is enjoyed all year round.
