The Partnership 2000 supported Beit Shemesh-Mate Yehuda Lamitnadev Association initiated a project called "Bridging the Digital Divide", aimed at providing computer literacy to new immigrants and residents of distressed areas in Beit Shemesh-Adulam. This, as a means to improve their long-term employability and integration into mainstream Israeli society.
Companies and organizations such as Microsoft Israel, the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics and Omnitech Eichut have joined Lamitnadev's initiative by contributing computers and software.
Lamitnadev has stationed computers at:
The Narkiss St. Afternoon Center for Ethiopian Immigrant Youth, operated on a volunteer basis by Garin Maayan.
The Rambam St. Afternoon Center.
The Moshav Gefen Community Club.
The Religious-Secular School for Democracy at Moshav Srigim.
Student volunteers taking part in the Partnership 2000 student leadership program will be staffing these locations.
As the local school system has a severe shortage of computers and most of the region's disadvantaged families do not have computers at home, there is a need for many more computers and peripherals for this project. For more details, please contact Eitan Hevroni -
