The first group of Engliyada Volunteer Teachers for May 2007 is completing their two weeks in Beit Shean. Laura and Dennis Brooks, Deena Davis, Eileen Kollins, Ona Lowe, and Stacey Singer all agree it was an outstanding and meaningful experience.
The highlight was the connections that were made between the students in the classrooms, beginning, intermediate, and advanced conversational speakers and the teachers, learning about each other in a relaxed setting of speaking, reading and lots of laughing. The three hour classes flew by for all. Also very special were the Shabbat experiences shared by the teachers and their host families, some in the city of Beit Shean and some on the kibbutzim in the area. Celebrating Shabbat together was both a joy and a magnificent feast with good conversations and shared memories of family and home.
A new group of teachers arrives today and will undoubtedly have an equally memorable experience. You might want to consider participating yourself.
