Rabbi Simcha Dessler, Educational Director of the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland, proudly presented a generous donation for the computer center at the Merav Children's Group Home (Bet Hayeled). For the 3rd year in a row Academy students under the umbrella of the Irving I. Stone Tzedakah Fund gathered donations this past Purim holiday for this worthy cause.
Over three years ago, Academy parents and teachers joined the Federation's Cleveland - Beit Shean Solidarity tour to Israel, which included a visit to Kibbutz Merav. Yitz Feigenbaum, an Academy graduate and currently a Kibbutz member, led the group for a short tour of the kibbutz including the Merav Children's Group Home which he co-founded in 1994.
This home serves orphaned children or children from abusive homes who have been referred by the State's social service network. The home specializes in children who cannot be returned to their homes and need to rebuild their life in a warm nurturing community.
Bet Hayeled is proud to be a partner with the Hebrew Academy and the Cleveland Jewish community as it continues this life saving endeavor.
