Young Beit Shean and Cleveland Musicians Share Musical Video Conference

1.5.2005

On Sunday, May 15th, we had a special videoconference experience: A Musical Videoconference.

Ruth Fingerhut Tamkin from Cleveland has a choir and a violin group of young kids from Cleveland.

Tzili Peri, from Beit Shean region, who manages the Music Conservatory in the region came with a group of children who played violin and a group of children who sang in the choir. Both groups played music and sang for each other. The highlight of the videoconference was when the Cleveland children sang the first part of "Yerushalayim Shel Zahav" in Hebrew and the Israeli children continued the song in English. This amazing experience couldn't have happened without the enthusiasm of Ruth and Zili.

Below, are some notes written by children from Cleveland to their new aquaintences:

"I enjoyed playing music with you. I like the music and I hope we can play with you in the same room in Israel."

"Hi! That was cool! We were waving and you guys waved back, like we were in the same room! It would be so awesome if we actually got to meet each other, but I guess an email is close enough, my email is... Please email me! From, Rachel Oshrin P.S. I'm the person who wore a pink shirt and red pants."

"Dear X, I really enjoyed the concert and I hope you enjoyed my part too. It was really cool to see you even though you are all the way in Israel. Please email me. My email address is... From, Sidney (the girl wearing a red shirt and vest and a black skirt.)"

"Hopefully we get better technology to actually meet you guys in person."

"Hello... You did a great job! from Gillian (Gilah)"

"I enjoyed hearing you play, and this was a great event that was put together, and I am hoping to see you play together with us in Israel some day. Thank you..."

"I liked to hear you sing those songs. They were amazing."

"It was cool singing together..."
