Dalit Yona

“The Ethiopian community, and my family personally, is coming full circle with Operation Promise. My grandfather, Yona Bogale, came to Israel to study as a teenager in 1923. He returned to Ethiopia and was the first leader of the Ethiopian Jewish community. Now, 82 years later, the last remnants of the community are all coming home.”

Dalit Yona (26) is a native-born Israeli. Her rich family history reflects the incredible story of the Ethiopian Jewish community and its on-going pursuit of returning to Israel after 2,000 years of exile. More
