Max Nordau (1849 - 1923) (Hungary-France)

Max Nordau

Author, physician and Zionist leader. The Dreyfus Affair awakened him, as well as Herzl. Nordau became Herzl's first convert and formulated the goals for the Basel Program. His famous "Nordau Plan" called for the settling of five hundred thousand Jews in Eretz Israel as a means of acquiring a Jewish State (1920). Jabotinsky later (1936) adopted Nordau's plan as the basis for his Ten-Year Plan.
