Sir John Monash (1865-1931)

Sir John Monash

Australian engineer and soldier. Monash introduced the use of reinforced concrete construction to much of Australia. His techniques were used successfully in building the three span Morell bridge in Melbourne. Monash who successfully led the third division of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACS) in France was given command of the army in 1918  He was the first Jew to ever obtain the rank of General.
