Poem by Rochelle Marshall

From Romania, Austria, Australia, the USA

South Africa, Switzerland and even Uruguay…

We left our homes, we paid our fare

We have a need to show we care.

When Israel bleeds and cries in pain,

As Katyusha rockets fall like rain,

We sit on buses and withstand the heat

And hear not one word of defeat.

We watch their strong resolve with problems so immense,

Children away from parents, families in tents.

Sirens, shelters, ruins, fires in the trees

So many words and images, my mind is filled with these.

They keep on thanking us, but we should thank them more

'Cause when we leave tonight, they stay and mind the store.

We understand each other, I know just how you feel

We come from different countries, but our home is ISRAEL.
