The Zionist Federation of Belgium organized three intensive days throughout Israel for 200 Belgian Zionists
Amongst the 200 participants of the third annual Solidarity Mission were 100 young people from Zionist youth movements. In addition to visiting Yad Vashem, Chavat Hanoar, and the new Foreign Ministry and briefings on the Geneva Accord, the youth representatives had the opportunity to visit and speak with President Katzav in his residence while the adults had an extraordinary experience with Prime Minister Sharon. The entire group spent a day in the north where they met with residents from Kfar Vradim, a town with whom the community in Belgium is partnered through Partnership 2000; participated in a memorial service at Maxim’s restaurant in memory of those killed in the terrorist attack there; and were entertained in Kibbutz Cabri by the Israeli singer Motti Caspi. The following day the group had a most rewarding experience at the Beit Zipporah School in Kiryat Malachi where recent olim from Ethiopia study and have the opportunity to adjust gradually to their new lives in Israel. The group, who had come with 2,000 pounds of clothing that had been collected in Belgium for the school, were so moved by what they had experienced there that they decided to establish and maintain a permanent relationship with the students and the school.
