The staff of the absorption center in Safed recently hosted the Building and Property Division of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation.
During the visit, a ceremony took place to honor the Building and Property Division of the Los Angeles Federation for its generous contribution of $120,000 to repair the absorption center. Immediately after the Second Lebanon war, during which the absorption center sustained severe damage from a fusillade of Katyusha missiles, the Division was asked to lend a hand with the repair effort and responded magnificently.

The delegation heard from the director of the of the absorption center about the day the Katyushas struck the building, and how the immigrants and the center’s workers coped with the situation during those difficult days. In the course of the ceremony a commemorative plaque expressing the center’s gratitude was unveiled by Ken Kahan the leader of the delegation.
Participating in the visit were the delegates of the Los Angeles Federation, Marty Karp, representative of the Federation in Israel and Jeff Kaye, director-general of the Department of Resource Development and Public Affairs.
The Jewish Agency attaches great importance to this visit and views its as a continuation of the devoted friendship between the Jewish Agency and the Building and Property Division of the Los Angeles Federation.
