1,640 children from Sderot and the Gaza perimeter communities enjoyed a Jewish Agency sponsored day of fun and adventure in central Israel. 35 buses headed away from the range of Kassam rockets to the excitement of Holon’s Yamit 2000 Water Park, Superland Amusement Park in Rishon Lezion and Latrun’s Mini-Israel exhibit.
This event is part of the Jewish Agency’s comprehensive program to bring the children in the Sderot and the Gaza perimeter communities out of the range of missile fire. The program was put in place last week when the barrage of rockets increased dramatically. At that time, the Jewish Agency brought youth from the area to the Final Cup soccer match and a tranquil weekend in Jerusalem. With the summer vacation only a month away, the Jewish Agency has begun to organize summer camps for the 8,000 children in the area.
The commitment to the children of Sderot and the Gaza perimeter communities has been made with the full confidence that the Jewish Agency’s steadfast institutional partners as well as concerned individuals in Israel and throughout the world will enlist in the emergency drive to assist Jewish communities under attack.
