After the passage of two years since the disengagement from Gaza, the Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Mr. Zeev Bielski, met in Jerusalem with the head of the Gush Katif Settlers' Committee, Lior Kalfa.  In the course of the meeting, Mr. Bielski announced a 10 million shekels aid package for rehabilitating the evacuees, a contribution of the United Jewish Communities of North America (UJC).  The plan, to be carried out in conjunction with the Gush Katif Settlers' Committee and other bodies, is intended to assist the evacuees to return to normalcy in the communal, occupational, educational and psychological spheres.

The Jewish Agency Chairman stated that "two years after the evacuation the evacuees are still contending with a difficult situation in many areas, despite the major assistance provided by the state."  Pursuantly, the Jewish Agency decided, thanks to a contribution by the UJC, to put into operation a program for rehabilitating the evacuees and helping them return to normalcy. 

Jewish Agency Chairman Zeev Bielski praised the Chairman of the Gush Katif Settlers Association, Lior Kalfa, for his display of responsible leadership over the past two years and promised that he would continue placing aid to the evacuees at the top of his order of priorities.
