Jewish Agency Delegation Meets With Young Leadership In Baltimore MD

Aviel Avraham, Faith Segal and Yanina Navel (in the red sweater) together with the Baltimore communal leaders.
Some 20 young communal leaders, contributors to the Jewish Federation in Baltimore, met with a delegation from the Jewish Agency in Baltimore MD. When asked, “what can we do to help you?” Yanina Navel, an olah from Argentina, responded “come visit Israel.” In addition to Yanina, the Jewish Agency delegation included Aviel Avraham who immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia as a child and Faith Segal who immigrated to Israel from the United States several years ago. Faith expanded on Yanina’s answer and encouraged participants to influence the Federation committees to allocate funds toward helping olim have a successful klitah.

Aviel Avraham described how he walked from Ethiopia through the Sudan on his way to Jerusalem. He recounted how the Jewish Agency helped him during his journey and after he arrived in Israel. That help was made possible by contributions from organizations like the Baltimore Federation.

Yair Kalush from the Washington office of the Jewish Agency told of similar programs that helped his family who made aliyah after encountering economic hardships in South America.
