Close to 300 teenagers, high school seniors at Jewish schools, were aboard the jumbo jet from South Africa that landed in Ben Gurion Airport in early January. The youngsters, constituting some 60% of the total number of 12
th
graders studying at Jewish schools, came to Israel as guests of the Jewish Agency, in order to look into the possibility of continuing their studies in Israel. During the two-week trip, which was oversubscribed, the students visited educational institutions with academic tracks for students from abroad and met with young Israelis their age.
One hundred and twenty of the participants in the program last year have returned to Israel to take part in long-term programs sponsored by the Jewish Agency.
