Remembrance Day To Include Victims of Terror

May 11, 2008

The military establishment, government and representatives of families of terror victims have reached an agreement for the annual Remembrance Day for Fallen Soldiers to include memorials for civilian terror victims. A separate ceremony will be held for the more than 1,600 victims of terror, following events in memory of the more than 22,000 soldiers who have fallen in wars since 1948, when the State of Israel was re-established.

In addition, a special Remembrance Day ceremony for more than 200 Jewish terror victims around the world will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday outside the Jewish Agency building on King George Street in Jerusalem. Lisa and Ilsa, the daughters of the late Leon Klinghoffer, a crippled American who was murdered in 1985 by Arab terrorists, will light the torch in memory of the victims.
