Rabbi Davids was ordained from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1965, and he was subsequently awarded his Doctor of Divinity. Following service as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army, Rabbi Davids served a number of congregations. He received his BA from Case Western Reserve University.
Rabbi Davids’s most significant commitments have been to ARZA, which he currently serves as National President. Through ARZA he founded the Reform Zionist Think Tank, an endeavor that brought together representation from the Central Conference of American Rabbis, HUC-JIR, and the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, and which led to the historic adoption of the CCAR’s Reform Zionist Platform. He was a National Co-Chair of the 1995 Israel Bonds campaign, and is honorary Life Chair of the National Rabbinic Cabinet of Israel Bonds.
Together with his wife, Rabbi Davids made Aliyah in 2004, and the Davids family now maintains homes in both Jerusalem and Atlanta. He has led missions of service to the Jewish communities in Moscow, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Paris and Addis Ababa. He is Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Emanu-el.
Stanley Davids is a Member of the Board of Governors since June 2004. He serves as Co-Chair of the Information Technology Committee.
