Oved Benozair was born in Baghdad, Iraq. He studied academically in London and Jerusalem and in the 50's he was appointed head of the Municipal Council of Ofakim on behalf of Mapai – the Israel Labour Party. He also served as Assistant for Special Assignments to the Secretary-General of Mapai.
In addition, Mr. Benozair served as Secretary-General of the Federation of Sephardi Communities in Israel. He joined the Export Bank, affiliated to the Wolfson, Clore and Mayer Group and served as Director in charge of the Securities and Investments Department up until the sale of the Bank in 1972.
In 1972 he founded Unitrust Investments and Securities Corporation Ltd., a member of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, which he headed and directed for 25 years. Currently he serves as a member of the Management of the Shoval Group controlling the Jerusalem Bank and other financial corporations. Oved Benozair is one of the prominent figures and founders of the Tel Aviv Capital Market and Stock Exchange.
He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of public and private financial corporations.
Publicly, he served as the Chairman of the Union Members of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange; he is a Member of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the Tel Aviv University; Chairman of the World Organization of Jews from Arab Countries; he is Past Chairman of the Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center.
Mr. Benozair is a member of the Board of Governors since June 2000.
