Lior Shilat was born in Herzliya. At the end of his service in the IDF he started working as the assistant of the then Head of Opposition, Mr. Ariel Sharon, and when Sharon was elected Prime Minister Lior was appointed as a Senior Assistant to the Prime Minister. Among the positions he held in the Office of the Prime Minister, Lior Shilat was a member of a forum that formulated and founded the MASA program and after the program was established, he served as the first Chairman of its Education Committee.
After the election of Mr. Ehud Olmert as Prime Minister, Lior Shilat was appointed the Head of the Division for Coordination, supervision and Inspection at the Prime Minister's Office – the division that is responsible for supervising the implementation of the Government programs and resolutions. During his tenure as the Head of the division, the position was expanded and included responsibilities on some of the important Government partnerships in issues connected to the Jewish people, including the educational programs MASA and Birthright and the connection with the organizations for promoting Aliyah Nefesh B'Nefesh and AMI.
Lior left the Office of the Prime Minister in 2007 and established the consulting team Galilea.
Lior Shilat lives in Jerusalem. He is a Committee Member since February 2008.
