At Home-Together (Babait Beyachad) is a highly successful national program that mobilizes Israeli volunteers throughout Israel to reach out to new immigrants and personally help them to overcome challenges and make Israel their home.
Volunteers offer targeted assistance and support in specific areas such as learning Hebrew, finding a job, looking for permanent housing, launching a career or business and becoming involved in community activities. Others are matched with a new immigrant family, lone soldier or student, and establish strong, positive relationships.
At Home Together pairs new immigrant and veteran families based on individual suitability, common background, language, age of children and interests. Many times a veteran olim family is matched with a new immigrant family from their native country who is better suited to help the new immigrants acculturate into life in Israel.
An innovative new aspect of At Home-Together is its five Employment Centers, strategically located throughout Israel and run by At Home-Together employment coordinators. These Centers are instrumental in providing critical assistance and guidance for new immigrants to find suitable jobs in their new home.
The program also boasts a new customized on-line Aliyah Job Center for recent new immigrants. People who have declared their intention to make aliyah can also access it before they arrive to Israel. The Center provides an extensive job search database, email and telephone helpdesk, mentoring support and links to relevant job search information in English, French, Spanish and Russian and can be found at: www.aliyahjobcenter.org
At Home-Together powerfully touches the lives of both new immigrants and veteran Israeli volunteers, and is strengthening the social fabric of Israeli society.
